Greater Mekong Sub-Region Border Areas Health Project (the Project) aims to improve access to affordable health services in and around selected border areas where migrant populations pass through and reside on either a short- or long-term basis. The project will improve the health of the migrant workforce and their families, as well as local communities, in selected border areas of Cambodia. Poipet Referral Hospital, the project includes new building with a total ground floor area of 7,868m2. The new hospital building will be three floors high. It will be constructed on the site of the existing effluent pond which will be drained, the pond water treated (if required), and effluent discharged. The land will be stabilized as appropriate for construction. The project will construct a new wastewater treatment plant and a separate area for solid waste storage. The Concept Design previously developed also relocates the TB ward (432m2) which was to be located near the proposed wastewater treatment plant infrastructure.
